Valenciennes Cup & Saucer #2

This is a really nice and rare cup and saucer made by Valenciennes in the 18th century. The factory was founded in 1785 by Fauquez and Lamoniary but it was short lived until about 1795 and then again from 1800 until 1810. For a short time Vanier was the director. They didn't make the most exciting wares hence the short life I think but this cup and saucer are about as nice a set as they made. A n excellent example of their work! The set is hand painted with a nice scene in different shades of black around the edge of the saucer and around the body of the cup. They are quite nice and include buildings, ships, tiny windmills (my favorie part!) and trees in a landscape surrounding. Nice gold trim to the edges and handle. The cup and saucer are in great condition with just some wear to the gilding around the well of the saucer and a firing flaw to the center of the udnerside that does not affect the piece at all. The cup is 2.625 inches tall and 2.75 inches in diameter. The saucer is 1.125 inches tall with a diameter of 5.25 inches. The cup is unmarked but the saucer is marked with their red monogramm as shown. Please email me for more information or other pictures.
