Limbach Figurine

This is a superb figurine made by Limbach around 1780. It is of two cherubs holding a garland of flowers. One is sitting on a rock the other leaning on a stump of a tree. The piece is superbly painted with colors unlike any other maker! It is a nice theme as well and quite charming. The figurine displays in excellent condition as there are only a few teeny chips to the garland leaves but in the back these two putti should have had wings that made them cherubs! Now long gone and ground smooth and painted over it is not very obvious. But one doesn't look at these pieces from the back so like I said - it displays perfectly and is quite rare. The base is a little warped from the firing process and thus one end is a bit in the air. The figure is 5.5 inches tall, 5.75 inches wide and 3.75 inches deep. There is no mark underneath but the characteristic colors, decoration and the blueish tinge of the glaze give this piece away quite easily. Please email me for more information or photos.
