Thun Kloesterle Teapot

This is a teapot with its lid made by Klösterle / Thun in the late 18th or early 19th century. The company was started in 1794 by the order of Count F.J. Thun by Nicolaus Weber and the arcanist Sonntag. It changed hands a few times and are actually still around today. The pot is marked with the overglaze pink TK mark used around 1800 underneath. The pot is naively handpainted with a large flower arrangement on either side with a pink rose as the main flower and the design is very reminiscent of the Russian St. Petersburg Everyday Service design. Some smaller flowers scattered throughout as well as on top of the lid and a puce trim to the finial and the handle. The pot including lid is 5 inches tall and 4 inches in diameter. The piece is in superb original condition with lots of manufacturing flaws original to the making. The paste is not very refined yet and points to a very early production date. There are divets, bumps and firing cracks which all add to the charm of this teapot. Please email me for more information or photos.
