Meissen Teichert Arabian Boy

This is a porcelain figurine made by The Meissner Ofen-und Porzellanfabrik Teichert around 1920. Described as a Blackamoor , a Turk , an Oriental as well as an Arab at times but with the half moon on his turban I tend to think he is a Turk. A very well modeled figure he was designed by Oskar Burkhardt (I think he was a painter that came from Meissen) during this period. This is by far the best painted version I ahve ever come across but it is not a common piece to find. The boy is wearing a colorful and fun outfit perfect for this Art Nouveau period while holding a fruit in his hand. He is standing on a simple white base with two gold lines. The artist mark of a letter B in a circle is very lightly impressed on top of the base between his feet. The figurine is in perfect condition with a small firing spot on the back of the base. Marked underneath with the name Meissen in an oval with a star underneath. The figurine is about 6.125 inches tall with a base diameter of 2.875 inches.
