St. Petersburg Imperial Farm Service Cup & Saucer

This is a nice porcelain cup and saucer from the Farm Palace Service at Alexandria Park in Peterhof made by the famous St. Petersburg Imperial factory during the reign of Tsar Nikolai the 2nd. Both peices are hand painted with the monogram / cypher of Tsar Alexander II . Originally the service was made during the reign of Nicholas I and decorated with the monogram of the heir to the throne, Grand Duke Alexander ( Alexander Nikolaevich ) but the set here was one of the additions which were made until the revolution and the end of the Czars. The cup has a nice shape to it and with the monogram to the front and a gilded handle to the opposite side. Gold trim to the top and bottom edge. The saucer has the same design in the center and a gold ring around the well and the edge. The cup & saucer are in greatt condition with just a touch of wear to the gilding. No chips, etc. They are marked with the green mark for Nickolas II under a crown with the year mark 1914 under it, a pink X (on the saucer only) and two dots near the footring as shown. These are important to show they are authentic pieces but no one quite knows what they mean. The cup is 2.375 inches tall with a top diameter of just under 4 0.75 inches. The saucer is 1.125 inches tall with a diameter of 5.75 inches. A nice set with some real history attached to it. Please email me for more information or other pictures.
