Colored Printed Enamel Box

This is a nice larger box made in England - probably in the South Staffordshire region - in the late 18th century. Probably in the Bilston area. They are famous for their Battersea enamel boxes, etc. Not sure if this would be considered a patch box or tabatiere / snuff box but either way it is a fun piece! The box is decorated with lots of difference transfer printed scenes all around which have been colored in by hand, a bit of a raised design around the scenes - in white on the sides and in blue on the lid as shown. The scene to the top is superb! The metal mounts are copper I believe. The box is in pretty good condition given what they often end up looking like but it does have the usual issues of stress cracks though less than most one sees and not very long ones either on the outside. The inside has some longer ones but since there is no design to it it does not matter as much I think. The corners to the outside bottom have the enamel covering worn or chipped away as does one small corner of the lid. The piece displays very well and is a bit unusual with the transfer design that was painted in. The lid closes nicely and stays shut. All in all a great example! The box is 1.375 inches tall, 3.25 inches wide and 2.5 inches deep. Please email me for more information or other pictures.
