Battersea King Charles Spaniel Box

This is a nice pink ground Battersea enamel pill / patch / snuff box made in England in the 18th century. Probably in the Bilston area of Southern Staffordshire . They are famous for their enamel boxes, etc. This is just the cutest piece having a King Charles Spaniel lying on top of the lid in relief. The flowers along the side are also in relief and then hand painted. a nice white raised enamel trim around the edge of the lid surrounding the dog. Brass hinges as far as I can tell. The box is in really good condition I think with a bit of typical wear and one chip to the enamel on top of the lid near the edge as shown. The mirror on the inside lid is mostly oxidized and there are some cracks to the enamel on the bottom inside as shown. All in all a superb piece and quite unusual with the dog on top. The box is 1.25 inches tall and 1.75 inches in diameter. Please email me for more information or other pictures.
