Battersea Harbor Scene Enamel Box

This is a really nice blue ground Battersea enamel over copper pill / patch / snuff box made in England in the 18th century. Probably in the Bilston area of Southern Staffordshire . They are famous for their enamel boxes, etc. The main body has a nice blue ground color to it but the lid is what excited me - it has a really well painted harbor / merchant scene to the top including people, boats, building and everything else you could think of. Really a stunning scene! A flower to the inside lid. The hinges are likely made of brass but they are completely oxidized and really dark now. The box is in good condition with no damage to the top at all but there is some enamel damage to the back of the main body as shown and while the box closes smoothly it does not stay closed but springs back open a little bit. Not a real issue but worth mentioning. All in all a superb piece! The box is 1.25 inches tall and 2.25 inches in diameter. Please email me for more information or other pictures.
