Baby in Cradle Figurine

This is a fun creamware / pearlware pottery baby in a cradle / bassinet figurine made in the Staffordshire region in the early 19th century. The figure is of a cradle with a sleeping baby in it covered with a patchwork blanket hand painted with different designs to each square. The outside of the cradle has a basket weave design to it and has a nice bright yellow ground color to it with a green trim. Rockers to the bottom to add a ncie detail to it and it works as well :) A really nice example of this sort of figurine. The reason as to why these exist are split into two different camps - one side might be as a gift by a an eager mother in law at the wedding symbolizing a possible and wanted family addition - the other camp thinks they were given after a birth to mark the occasion. No one truly seems to know. Either way they are a fun thing to collect! The piece is in great condition with a bit of paint wear / flaking, mainly to the green trim and one of the rockers has a piece reglued as shown. The piece display very nicely! As is the norm the piece is not marked. It is 3.25 inches tall, 4.625 inches long and about 2 inches deep. Please email me for more information or other pictures.
