Shorthose Cup & Saucer

This is an interesting cup and saucer set made by Shorthose in England in the early 19th century. John Shorthose was a manufacturer of earthenware in Hanley , Staffordhsire and this piece here is copied from the Worcester Three Flowers pattern and even has the blue crescent mark underneath. It is very unusual in that it does have a straw colored translucency and almost seems like they were experimenting to make some sort pf porcelain. There is a similar piece in the V&A museum and they date it possibly a touch earlier. The set is decorated in blue and the saucer is in really nice condition. The color of the paste has a slight straw color to it not pure white. The teabowl shaped cup a small firing crack to the edge on one side and a firing flow to the edge on the other side where it looks like it melted. Never seen anything like it before. A small firing flaw to the outside wall as well. Otherwise the set is in great condition. a stain to the bottom isnide of the cup. The cup is unmakred while the saucer has Shorthose & C in blue underneath as well as the blue crescent mark as shown. The saucer is just over 1 inch tall and 4.75 inches in diameter. The teabowl is 1.5 inches tall and 2.75 inches in diameter. Please email me for more information or other pictures.
