Seger Large Lidded Jar / Vase

This is a huge lidded vase / ginger jar made by Seger around 1900. It's massive in size and is superbly hand painted all around in the historic revivalism / hostorism / hostoricism style of the late 19th / early 20th century. There is one design of two putti sitting in a scrollwork archway done in black tones with a tree in green and brown growing behind it. Another larger panel is on the opposite side and it two more putti sitting in a similar archway funtioning as a fountain. In between is a lady holding a horn of plenty / conucopia probably meant to be the goddess Ceres and on the other side is a lady similar to lady justice holding a sword in one hand and scales in the other. Could be the goddess Themis or Justitia . The top rim has a fruit and shell design to it in polychrome as the bottom a dot design in the same color palette. The lid has a nice pine cone finial, a nice edge trim and a scroll design in the same tones as the main body. The piece looks amazing and is hard to describe so have a look at all the photos I took! Seger pieces are quite hard to find! He experimented with colros and firing temperatures and made some of these amazing pieces possible because of this. The main body is marked underneath with the under glaze blue scepter with SgrP mark under it as well as some imrpessed marks and the painter's number 210 as shown. The lid has the same number 210 as well as another painter's mark as shown in pink. There is one spot in the design that looks like a painter's signature but I am not sure so I am showing a picture of it. The entire piece is 15 inches tall with the lid in place and 8.5 inches in diameter. The lid is in perfect condition with a firing flaw in one spot of the gold trim. The main body displays nicely but does have a long hairline crack running down in one spot from the top edge about 3.5 inches as shown. Stable and not overly obvious when on display and can always be turned to the back to have it look perfect :) There is a bit of slightly greenish color to the underside edge of the lid from when it was made. An extremely rare piece that looks amazing! Please email me for more information or other pictures.
