Schliepstein Figurine

This is a large putto figurine made by the Schwarzburger Werkstätten für Porzellankunst in the early 20th century when it was first designed. The figure was designed by Gerhard Schliepstein around 1920 and is of a putto holding a floral garland in his hands with a basket full of flowers sitting on the base behind him. Nicely modeled and quite typical for this maker. Hard to find the original version but one can still get the Volkstedt later copies more easily. The figure is in good condition and displays perfectly but there are a few glaze cracks here and there. Not that common on German porcelain but it happens with this maker as well as Nymphenburg pieces once in a while. These are not hairlines just cracks in the surface and they are stable. A small rough spot to the end of the flower garland looks to be a tiny popped glaze bubble from when it was made. The figurine is 9.125 inches tall and the base is 4 inches wide and 2.875 inches deep. The figure is marked with the blue fox mark as well as U442 for the model number and another impressed number 2 underneath. Also the impressed stamp stating Schwarzburger Werkstaetten fuer Porzellankunst. The back of the base has the artist mark incised. The original period pieces are very hard to find so I was thrilled to own it! Please email me for more information or other pictures.

Price is $299
