Pierrot & Lady Unmasked Figurine

This is a large and superb figurine made by the Schwarzburger Werkstaetten around 1917 when it was first designed by the famous Hugo Meisel. This factory was really the frist to make these large figures in the Art Nouveau and Art Deco style often left in the white to show off all that amazing modeling. You don't find pieces like this often in the porcelain world and they are superb! Not a maker that is appreciated enough yet! The figure is of a couple - one being Pierrot the clown and the other I thought would be Harlequina but she is simply called a lady unmasked. They are fecing each other in terms of the heads but the back of the lady is against the front of the gentleman. Both are wearing nice yet simply modeled outfits with her having a long coat over a skirt and high heeled shoes and him in his traditional costume including the fancy collar and hat. He is holding a guitar while she is holding a hankerchief and her mask. Simple round raised base. It's a superbly done figure that looks amazing - a super elegant piece and rather large! The figurine is 13.5 inches tall with the base having a diameter of 5.5 inches. The figurine is marked with the impressed fox mark as well as an impressed U154 for the model number and the impressed stamp stating Schwarzburger Werkstaetten fuer Porzellankunst . Made in Germany in script in blue. On the top of the base we find the artist name H. Meisel incised. The piece is in perfect condition but there are some tiny firing spots typical of their larger white pieces. Minor and do not detract from it, Also a mark of a firing support that was attached as shown under the corner of her skirt also a typical thing for this maker.
