Lyre Player Figurine

This is a figurine made by the Schwarzburger Werkstaetten around 1919 when it was first designed. That means he is one of the rare original pieces. And also a very typical figurine for them in the style and coloration of the Art Nouveau period. The piece was designed by the famous Gustav Oppel - a freelance designer who did designs for the Schwarzburger Werkstätten for Porzellankunst in Unterweißbach , the Aelteste Volksstedter porcelain factory in Rudolstadt , Rosenthal in Selb and the Fraureuther porcelain factory. The figure here is of a lyre player modeled superbly and hand painted to perfection in their typical style. The piece is in superb condition with some minor gold wear and a tiny chip to the very tip of the lyre as shown. The figurine is 10.25 inches tall, 4.375 inches wide and 6.375 inches long. The piece is marked with the impressed fox mark as well as U 219 and Schwarzburger Werkstaetten fuer Porzellankunst though that and most of the Model number has been ground away. Not sure why since their seconds pieces would have a cut through the fox mark. This piece has a much more attractive paint design to it than any other I could find so maybe a trial piece? Also impressed on the base we find the artist name G.OPPEL.19 as shown. Please email me for more information or other pictures.

Price is $999
