Paul Scheurich Huntress Figurine

This is a superb figurine made by the Schwarzburger Werkstaetten around 1911 when she was first designed by the famous Paul Scheurich who later on went to Meissen and is even today one of the most famous designers in porcelain. Paul Scheurich was born in New York to German parents. He was a painter, grafic artist, and sculptor who studied at the academie of art in Berlin. He started to work on porcelain in 1909 at the Schwarzburger Werkstaetten but soon went on to become one of the top designers at Meissen. He also worked for KPM and Nymphenburg. If you like his work these are a must have since the hunter and huntress are the first real pieces he designed in porcelain and you can already see the style he is so famous for in them. He won the Grand Prix for some of his work at the Paris International Industrial Exhibition in 1937. His work is known for the grace of the limbs and the naive yet natural looking faces of his figures. This huntress is no exception even though she is an early piece of his. Nicely modeled and painted in the Art Nouveau style she is a very elegant piece that is a must for any collection. The figurine is 10.25 inches tall, 5.25 inches wide and 3.25 inches deep. She is marked with the underglaze blue fox mark as well as an impressed U42 and a 3, Made in Germany in blue(only remnants left of that) and the impressed stamp stating Schwarzburger Werkstaetten fuer Porzellankunst. She is in almost perfect condition with the only flaw being a tiny chip of one tip of the white flower on her hat. Please email me for more information or other pictures.
