Putto as Bacchus Figurine

This is a superb figurine made by the Schwarzburger Werkstaetten in the early 20th century. That means he is one of the rare Schwarzburger Werkstätten original pieces. And also a very typical figurine for them in the style and coloration of the Art Nouveau period. I It was designed by the famous Gustav Oppel - a freelance designer who did designs for the Schwarzburger Werkstätten for Porzellankunst in Unterweißbach , the Aelteste Volksstedter porcelain factory in Rudolstadt , Rosenthal in Selb and the Fraureuther porcelain factory. The figure is of a young Bacchus that is modeled holding a bunch of grapes in his upper hand and a basket filled with grapes in his lower hand. Superbly modeled and hand painted with just enough color to look stunning. I have not seen this piece in color before so it's a rare treat for sure. The piece is in perfect condition just as good as when first made. The figurine is 8 inches tall, 4 inches wide and 2.5 inches deep. It is marked with the artist name on the back of the base as well as underneath with the under glaze blue fox mark,U349 (model number) over 2, impressed Schwarzburger Werkstatten fuer Porzellankunst and Made in Germany painted above that as shown.
