Blackamoor with Dessert Figurine

This is a figurine made by the Schwarzburger Werkstaetten around 1931 when he was first designed. That means he is one of the rare original pieces. And also a very typical figurine for them in the style and coloration of the Art Nouveau period. One of a set of four which is a complete set for these! It is a blackmoor holding a cake or some sort of dessert platter in front of him - sneaking a cookie in from his other hand :) He is wearing a turban and is handpainted with a neat colorful design. Mostly blue ground color with a fancy green, gold and red design to it. The piece is in perfect condition except for one small scratch to the gold trim around the base which doesn't take away from the piece at all! The piece is the smaller version being about 7 inches tall, 2.25 inches wide and 4 inches long. He is marked with the underglaze blue fox mark as well as U 731 over 2 underneath. Also impressed on the base we find the artist initials HM impressed for Hugo Meisel. Also the impressed stamp (be it lightly) stating Schwarzburger Werkstaetten fuer Porzellankunst. In blue we have Made in Germany above glaze. Please email me for more information or other pictures.

Price is $1499
