Blackamoor w/ Cake Figurine

This is a figurine made by the Schwarzburger Werkstaetten around 1931 when he was first designed. That means he is one of the rare original pieces. And also a very typical figurine for them in the style and coloration of the Art Nouveau period. One of a set of four which is a complete set for these! It is a blackmoor holding a fruit platter in front of him. He is wearing a turban and is handpainted with a neat colorful design. Mostly yellow ground color with a fancy green, gold and red design to it. The piece is in perfect condition except for a teeny chip to the underside of one leaf on the rim of the platter which doesn't take away from the piece at all! The piece is the smaller version being 7 inches tall, 2.25 inches wide and 4 inches long. He is marked with the underglaze blue fox mark as well as U 732 over 2 underneath. Also impressed on the base we find the artist initials HM impressed for Hugo Meisel. Underneath the platter is the impressed H. Meisel and the year 1931 . Also the impressed stamp (be it lightly) stating Schwarzburger Werkstaetten fuer Porzellankunst. In blue we have Made in Germany above glaze. Sorry about the pics - still learning the ins and outs of the new camera! Please email me for more information or other pictures.

Price is $1399
