Madonna & Child Figurine

This is a large porcelain figurine made by the Schwarzburger Werkstaetten in the early 20th century when it was first designed. That means she is one of the rare original pieces and not a later Volkstedt re-issue. It is of a Madonna with child which is modeled extremely elegantly. Left in the white to show of the simple lines used so well during this period! The figure is in perfect condition and quite large. There are three small and meaningless firing cracks and a small spot of extra porcelain paste - all issues from the making! The piece is 12.5 inches tall, 9.5 inches wide and 6 inches deep. The piece is marked with the underglaze blue fox mark as well as U 383 and also the impressed stamp stating Schwarzburger Werkstaetten fuer Porzellankunst. Germany on the footring and in the back on the pedestal she is sitting on are the artists infos - HR Simon Dresden and something that looks like a 17 likely a date mark for 1917 ? Please email me for more information or other pictures.

Price is $1499
