Asian with Grapes Figurine

This is a superb figurine made by the Schwarzburger Werkstaetten in about 1920 when he was first designed by Martha Schlameus . That means he is one of the rare Schwarzburger Werkstätten original pieces. And also a very typical figurine for them in the style and coloration of the Art Nouveau period. It is an Asian influenced figurine holding some grapes in his hands (coming home from grape picking?) with more behind him on the vine. Great base with a gold trim line. The piece is in perfect condition just as good as when first made with a rub to the paint on the black thing sticking above his hat and a rub to the gold trim on the base. Simple decoration makes it even more elegant I think! The piece is 8.5 inches tall, 3.75 inches wide and 4.75 inches deep. He is marked with the underglaze blue fox mark as well as U 523 - the model number - underneath. Also impressed on the base we find the artist initials MS impressed for Martha Schlameus. It also stated Schwarzburger Werkstatten fuer Porzellankunst impressed underneath. Please email me for more information or other pictures.

Price is $1249
