Schney Saucer

This is a saucer made by ??? in the 18th century. I first thought the mark was an under glaze letter S but none of those makers really fit the porcelain. Now I am pretty sure it is actually a letter G which would mean three options - Gera , Gotha of Germany or Gardner of Russia. I can't recall having seen this sort of flower on German porcelain and that odd light brown trim is pretty typical of Russian porcelain so I am leaning towards it having been made by Gardner in Russia. It would be a nice early piece for them. The porcelain almost feels like soft paste so it's a mystery to me! Either way the dish is hand painted with a superb large fancy flower with a smaller blue one in an arrangement as well as two smaller ones. Reddish brown trim to the rim. It is in perfect condition with very little wear and marked underneath with the script G. mark in under glaze blue as well as an incised S, an incised number 5 and a red number 6. The saucer measures 1.25 inches tall and 5.125 inches in diameter. Please e-mail me for more information or photos.
