Schlaggenwald Floral Plate #8

This is a plate made by Schlaggenwald in the mid 19th century around 1840. Schlaggenwald was founded by Georg Paulus in 1793. The Greiners took it over around 1800 and in 1808 Lippert & Hass took it over from them. It was still around after 1945. The plate has a nice shape to it with the relief design jutting into the rim from the edge highlighted with gilding and the superb hand painted flower in the center in this case being a nice orange and yellow tulip which is very pretty. It has a piece of the green stalk with two leaves on the sides and the blossom to the top. The plate is in good condition with wear to the gilding and a tiny scratch to the flower but it displays very nicely as shown in the pictures. The piece is marked with the impressed Lippert & Haas In Schlaggenwald mark as well as an impressed 840 for 1840 (similar to Vienna ), another impressed letter and a number 36 in black as a painter's mark. The name of the flower in black script on the back in German - Tulpe . The plate is 1.25 inches tall and 7.75 inches in diameter. I have a few other plates from this set on the site if anyone is interested in a pair or more. Please email me for more information or photos.
