Scheibe Alsbach Figurine

This is a nice figurine made by Scheibe Alsbach in the 20th century. The figure is of a lady reclining in a nice couch type of chair called a chaise lounge. The lady is wearing a nice gown with some gold floral design to it and the lounge has a nice reddish purple ground color to it with lots of gilding. The rectangular base has some nice gilded design elements to it. The front of the base has the name Madame Recamier impressed into it. Her full name was Jeanne Françoise Julie Adélaïde Récamier and she was a French socialite whose salon drew people from high society of early 19th-century Paris. The side of the base has almost invisibly D'apres David I believe referring to the famous painting of her in the Louvre by Jacques-Louis David. A really fun figurine! There is even a little fully gilded step stool underneath. The back of the base is marked with the blue S mark with two crossing lines through it as shown. The piece is 7.375 inches tall, 9 inches long and 4.75 inches deep. The figurine is in superb condition with a firing flaw to the top of the base under the lounge chair in the back as shown. The figure displays perfectly! Please email me for more information or photos.
