Miniature / Toy Cup & Saucer

This is a rare miniature / doll / toy / child sized cup and saucer made by Vienna in the early 19th century during the famous Sorgenthal period. Both pieces are hand painted with a rich yellow ground (a rare ground color since the color is derived from gold - in China for example it was reserved for the emperor) and a nice fancy gold trim typical for this period. I have not come across a miniature set made by them before so definitely a rare set! Looks great and it is in superb condition with a touch of wear which is to be expected when something is this old. There is an area on the outside rim of the suacer that has been ground down a bit from when it was made. Probably to get rid of a firing spot or flaw. It is glazed over so definitely not done later. There is a tiny white spot on the fromt of the saucer in the yellow ground. Looks a bit odd like something happened when it was made not just a rgular paint flake but it really is tiny. They both display perfectly! Both pieces are marked underneath with the under glaze blue beehive / shield mark as shown plus some incised numbers that are hard to make out on the saucer. The cup has a 40 as well as an 815 which is the year mark for 1815 which fits the style. The cup is just over 1.375 inches tall and just over 1.25 inches in diameter. The saucer is just over 0.75 inches tall and has a diameter of 3.125 inches. Please email me for more information or other pictures.
