Ottweiler Princely Floral Saucer

This is a supremely rare saucer made by Ottweiler between 1765 and 1767 during their first period and is a piece of the solitaire belonging to prince Wilhelm Heinrich of Nassau-Saarbruecken. Ottweiler existed from about 1763 to 1800 but very few pieces are known to exist today. Of the 120 or so pieces about 90 are back in the museum in Saarbruecken. And from their first period only four other pieces are known to exist! The saucer is extremely well handpainted with a floral arrangement in the center as well as two smaller flowers and a nice gold trim. It is marked underneath with the colorful crown with WH underneath which is the property mark of Prince Wilhelm Heinrich of Nassau-Saarbruecken. Underneath in Gold are the letters FZNS which I could find no other example of but stands for Fuerst zu Nassau Saarbruecken ! Also underneath an impressed letter P and on the footring in gold the letters HJ. The impressed P stands for Dominique Pellevé who was the technical director for Ottweiler from 1764 until 1767. There is also a gold initial HJ which probably stands for Johann Philipp Herbert (son of a father with the same name who was a soldier under prince Wilhelm Heinrich). He was born in 1752 in Ottweiler and listed later in the church books as a worker in the porcelain manufactury in Ottweiler. The saucer is in perfect condition and about 5.25 inches in diameter and just under 1.25 inches tall. Just a nice piece from an extemely rare maker and period! I added some pictures from the Ottweiler book of the rest of this set in the museum in Saarbruecken. A once in a lifetime opportunity to learn and look at it.
