Richard Klemm Birds of Paradise Sugar Dish

This is a superb porcelainsugar dish with its lid made by Richard Klemm between 1888 and 1916. The main body is hand painted with their very collectible bird of paradise design including two scenes of colorful birds in a landscape surrounding with the rest of the space filled with scattered insects including butterflies, etc. Nice gold trim all around including the distinctive one to the top edge. Two cute little handles to the sides. The lid has the same gold trim and a few little bugs painted on it with a nice finial in the center. We have collected this pattern for many years and while the plates are not super hard to find, the cups are fairly difficult to find and the main pieces almost impossible so here is your chance to complete the set if you are missing the sugar dish. The piece displays nicely but has had a chip to the edge of the main body top. That as well as the rest of the top has been regilded and covered in some sort of resin. It does the trick but could be improved upon. Does display nicely as is. The sugar pot and lid are 5 inches tall and 3.25 inches in diameter. The handles stick out about 0.75 inches on either side. The main body is marked underneath with the RK under a crown mark with the word Dresden under it printed in blue above glaze as well as some impressed number as shown.
