Rauenstein Puce Scenic Teapot

This is a great teapot made by Rauenstein in about 1790. Rauenstein is one of the better known Thuringia makers as they made a lot of porcelain mostly decorated with the strawflower pattern until the end of the 19th century but the older pieces are hard to find. Rauenstein existed from 1783 until about 1930. This pot has the typical ribbed design to the paste and is handpainted with two superb puce scenes on the main body and a smaller one on the lid. Some puce trim to the handle and spout. Hard to find scenic pieces by them as allmost all are blue and white or floral. This is probably the nicest pieces of Rauenstein I have owned! Amazingly this pot is in perfect condition with a little wear to the scenes and some spots of dirt on the glaze that come off when you really try. It is marked underneath with a puce R mark used in the 18th century. The pot is 4.625 inches tall and 4.5 inches in diameter. Please e-mail me for more information or photos.
