St. Petersburg Raphael Service Plates

This is a pair of plates made by Russia's premier manufactory St. Petersburg around 1893. They are from one of the most famous services of the porcelain world and superbly handpainted with a design based on Raphael's famous drawings. They remind me a bit of Vienna plates as well. These are dinner plates and both are in perfect condition. No gold wear or anything. The backsides are marked with a giant gold and red A mark for Alexander the third and my wife always said the back could be displayed almost as much as the front. Also a green dot near the footring and the year mark 1893 on one and 1894 on the other. The green dot is probably an artist mark but the reason for these dots on Russian plates is still unknown. The plates are about 9.5 inches in diameter. I sold this pair a long time ago but found the pics on an old CD and thought it would be nice as a reference on the website. These were some really super plates. Please email me for more information or other pictures.
