Popov Scenic Creamer

This is a superb milk jug / creamer made by Popoff around 1820. Alexander Popoff founded the factory near Moscow in the early 19th century. The products were highly sought after and from 1810 until 1830 they produced the best quality wares. The factory was closed in 1872. The front of the creamer has a large hand painted scene to it of a couple in a landscape surrounding. The gentleman is holding the hand of the lady who is sleeping against a tree with two helmets and a sword by their side. I am sure it is out of some sort of legend / myth / story but I have no idea which one it could be. The scene is surrounded by a gold line with a flower arrangement to either side of the pot and some more gold trim some of which on raised designs and a nice handle shape with more gilding to it. I first thought it was made by one of the smaller German makers until I looked closer and saw the style of the flowers which are typically Russian . The piece is in great condition with some wear to the gold trim - mainly on the top edge and handle. It displays perfectly! The creamer is marked underneath with the under glaze Popoff mark in blue as well as a red 7. It is 4.875 inches tall including the handle, 5.625 inches from handle to spout and 3 inches wide.
