Orleans Couple Figurine

This is a nice figurine made by Orleans in about 1770. I have seen this model sold as made by Mennecy but I am fairly certain it was actually made in Orleans. Either way it is a nicely modeled figure of a couple made in soft paste porcelain. The gentleman is playing his flute while the lady is watching attentively. Both are sitting on a scroll work base quite typical of this maker. The lady has a little bird's nest on her lap. The figure is plain white but glazed and since it is made of softpaste porcelain it looks quite elegant. Orleans started making porcelain around 1767 under Claude-Charles Gerault d'Areaubert who died in 1782. After him his widow took over for a while and then some other people until it closed in 1812 I think. The piece is unmarked which is very common on pieces from this period. It displays nicely but has flaws - the flute is missing its end though his fingers seems to be intact, he is missing one of his feet while the lady is missing both of heres and her one hand which I believe should also have held an adult bird. One chip to a finger, a corner of his coat and some chips to his hat and the occasional leaf but otherwise it is in great shape given the age and the missing pieces are not very obvious when on display at all. The figurine is 6.5 inches tall, 6 inches wide and 3.25 inches deep. Please email me for more information or other pictures.
