Swan Scene Demitasse Cup & Saucer

This is a demitasse cup and saucer made by Nymphenburg in the early to mid 20th century. Probably for Espresso or Mocha coffee. The set is painted in the Art Nouveau / Art Deco style with a nice gold trim and the cup has a hand painted portrait of two swimming swans on the front. The design is by Adelbert Niemeier from around 1906. This is the most expensive type of decoration of the Niemeier Service. The inspiration of this design were probably the ponds in front of the Nymphenburg castle with its swans. The cup is a bit over 1.75 inches tall and a bit over 1.75 inches in diameter. The saucer is 0.75 inches tall and a touch over 3.75 inches in diameter. Marked with the green shield mark with the word Nymphenburg underneath as well as some impressed numbers a a letter under the saucer. The set is in perfect condition but there is a bit of a manufacturing flaw to the underside of the saucer where the glaze is a bit uneven. Not considered damage and the set displays perfectly. Please email me for more information or other pictures.

Price is $499
