Painted Greyhound Figurine

This is a rare figurine of a whippet or greyhound made by Nymphenburg in the late 19th century (1898). While we have all seen this figurine 1000 times in white this is only the second time I ahve come across a painted version of this model. The other piece I bought quite a few years back and sold it quickly and ahve been looking for another one ever since! The dog is painted grey while the base is a light green. Kind of brings out a bit more detail this way from the ribs of the dog to the branch on the base. A bonus is that it is a very early version of this model having the model number still incised and no other numbers. This piece was first designed by P.J. (Pierre Jules) Mene whose name is also on top of the front base. A very well modeled and painted animal figurine! The dog is 4.375 inches tall, 2.25 inches wide and 6 inches long. It is marked with the impressed shield mark underneath with the model number 128 incised. The figure is in perfect condition with one toe lacking color but it is glazed and original to the making. I held up a white piece of porcelain to the dog in the last picture for comparison since it is rather hard to tell from jsut the pictures. Please email me for more information or other pictures.

Price is $849
