Art Nouveau 4 Seasons Figurine Set

For sale is a very hard to fins and superb set of four seasons figurines made by Nymphenburg in the mid 20th century. A little Art Nouvea, a little Art Deco and full blown Mid Century Modern or Eames era is what makes each figurine from this set just stunning. They were designed by Johanna Künzli who trained in Munich under the famous Josef Wackerle himself. You can see his influence in these pieces but she definitely had a style her own. Each figurine would be a very elegant piece to look at on its own but the complete set is just breath taking! There is the boy playing the pan flute meant to invoke Spring, the lady carrying the water jug is definitely Summer, the young man playing the hunting horn is unmistakably Fall and last but not least the lady wrapped in a warm scarf is representing Winter. The pieces are between 8.5 and 9.25 inches tall, between 2.25 and 3 inches wide and between 1.75 and 2.5 inches deep. Each is marked with the impressed shield mark underneath and the respective model number as well as the green shield mark with the name Nymphenburg underneath. Amazingly the set is in perfect condition except for a meaningless small firing crack underneath the robe of the boy playing the pan flute. A rare set that was not made in large quantities in this kind of condition - it doesn't come much better than this! Needless to say it was a must have for me :) Please email me for more information or other pictures.
