Putto w/ Paddle Figurine

This is a figure of a putto with a paddle or an oar made by Nymphenburg in the early to mid 20th century. Most of these symbolize some sort of god or goddess and I am fairly certain this one is meant to be Charon - the ferryman of Hades who carries souls of the newly deceased across the rivers Styx and Acheron. A nicely modeled piece originally done by Bustelli but this is the newer version after they were redone by Nymphenburg in the late 19th and early 20th century. It is a putto holding a paddle on top of a nice base with some scroll work along the edge. The mostly nude figure has a cloth covering the mid section and coming down either side onto the base. A stunning piece that is hard to find especially undamaged! The figurine is 4 inches tall, just under 2.5 inches wide and 3.25 inches deep. The piece is marked with the impressed shield mark underneath the base and an impressed number 258 over 3 as shown. The piece is in perfect condition.
