Puffer Fish Figurine

This is a really fun figurine made by Nymphenburg around the mid 20th century right after WWII. It is a puffer fish or blowfish that was modeled by the famous Luise Terletzki-Scherf who made so many other fun animal models! This piece here is no different. I always wanted to own this model and apparently it is now my youngest daughter's pet fish. Not sure how that will work out but we'll go with it for now :) The figure is very playful with giant eyes and lots of spikes which are actually part of their skeletons which explains why they are so deadly to other sea creatures. Nice yellow coloration. Lots of detail to the piece all around. One cannot help but be cheered up by her pieces! The figurine is 2.5 inches tall, about 4.25 inches long and 3 inches wide. The piece displays nicely but sadly has a chip to the top of the top back fin as shown. Not overly obvious and it display fine plus it would be a very easy restoration job if one wished to have it done. It is marked with the impressed artist initials in the left side bottom edge, the impressed shield to the underside as well as the numbers 2008 over 8 and the green shield mark under a crown with Nymphenburg underneath it as well as Western Germany in green as shown.
