Pierrot Commedia dell'Arte Figurine

This is a superb figurine from the Commedia dell'arte aka the Italian Comedy made by Nymphenburg in the early 20th century. This figure is of Pierrot and is one of the most important principal characters found in commedia dell'arte. His character is that of the sad clown, pining for love of Columbine, who usually breaks his heart and leaves him for Harlequin . The figurine is superbly modeled and hand painted perfectly. I really like this version of his model as the paint is jsut enough but not distracting from the porcelain itself. First designed by the best porcelain modeler of the 18th century - the famous Franz Anton Bustelli - it is just one elegant and fun piece to look at. The figure is 7.75 inches tall, 4.5 inches wide and 3.125 inches deep. The piece is marked with the impressed shield mark on top of the base, a blue and gold painted shield mark between his legs up on the scroll column he is leaning on and and impressed model number 54, 5 and II in Roman numerals incised which is a size reference. The figurine is in perfect condition. Please email me for more information or other pictures.
