Polychrome Bowing Monk Figurine #2

This is a really nice figurine of a monk made by Nymphenburg in the beginning of the 20th century. He is superbly modeled in a bowing down position with one hand on his head. The figure is amazingly modeled by the famous Bustelli who is still considered the greatest modeler of all time. The monk is wearing a flowing outfit that has been hand painted with nice detail and some gold trim. Simple yet full of movement and elegance. He was originally designed by Bustelli in the 18th century and the original piece is one of the most expensive porcelain figures to ever sell. Off course this one here is not an 18th century example, sadly. The figurine is 5.625 inches tall, 2.5 inches wide and 3.75 inches deep. He is in superb condition! The piece is marked with the impressed shield mark on top of the base as well as underneath with impressed numbers 154 and 0. It also has the rare black shield mark with the crown above it, Royal above that and Nymphenburg below plus Bavaria below that! Definitely one of my favorite pieces! Please email me for more information or other pictures.

Price is $999
