Peacock Figure

This is a fun figurine of a peacock made by Nymphenburg during the mid 20th century right after WWII. The bird was designed by Luise Terletzki-Scherf and her initials are impressed in the side of the base. The piece is superbly modeled and painted in mostly gold with a green base and some color to the feet and face. The figure is about 5.75 inches tall, 7.75 inches wide and 8.375 inches long so fairly large. The figurine is marked with the impressed shield mark on the base as well as underneath as well as the incised numbers 899 over 8. There is a very smeared Western Germany mark on the base rim and the green shield mark with Nymphenburg underneath is on the underside of the tail. The piece is in perfect condition and quite heavy.
