Pantalone Commedia dell'Arte Figurine

This is a superb figurine from the Commedia dell'arte aka the Italian Comedy made by Nymphenburg in the early 20th century. This figure is of Pantalone ( Pantaloon ) and is one of the most important principal characters found in commedia dell'arte. With his exceptional greed and high in society he is the "money" in the commedia world. His full name, including family name, is Pantalon de' Bisognosi , Italian for 'Pantalone of the Needy'. The figurine is superbly modeled and hand painted perfectly. First designed by the best porcelain modeler of the 18th century - the famous Franz Anton Bustelli - it is just one elgant and fun piece to look at. The figure is 6.875 inches tall, 2.875 inches wide and 4.25 inches deep. The piece is marked with the impressed shield mark painted in blue and gold on top of the base as well as an impressed shield mark underneath and impressed numbers 57 over 0. The figurine is in perfect condition with a few tiny spots of wear to the black robe. He displays perfectly! Please email me for more information or other pictures.
