Painted Whippet Figurine

This is a rare figurine of a whippet or greyhound made by Nymphenburg in the late 19th century (1898). While we have all seen this figurine 1000 times in white I will bet you this is the first time you have seen it painted! I certainly have never seen this version before in all these years! The dog is grey with the face having more detail and the base a slight green. Plus it is a very early version fo this model having the model number still incised. This piece was first designed in the mid 19th century by P.J. (Pierre Jules) Mene whose name is also on top of the front base. A very well modeled and painted animal figurine! The dog is 4.25 inches tall, 2.375 inches wide and 6 inches long. It is marked with the impressed shield mark underneath with the model number 128 incised. The figure is in perfect condition.
