Commedia Dell Arte Polychrome Scaramuz Figurine

This is a figurine of Scaramuz or Scaramouche made by Nymphenburg around 1900. He is one of the commedia dell'arte figurines - one of the greatest set of figurines ever designed by the famous Bustelli . He is probably the most normal of all the characters which doesn't say much :) Superbly modeled with a nice pose and lots of detail and hand painted to perfection in a fairly muted color palette. The figure has the impressed shield mark underneath and the incised number 240 as shown. No impressed mark yet so it is a nice and early version after they redid them from the original 18th century molds in the late 19th century. He is in superb condition with a color flaw to the underside of the front foot from when he was made. This smaller version does not have the attached bows to the ends of the pants and on top of the shoes just molded ones to the shoes. The base is a little wobbly - not perfectly flat. The figurine is 6 inches tall, 3.25 inches wide and 3.625 inches deep. Please email me for more information or other pictures.

Price is $999
