Painted Owl on Books

This is a figure of an owl sitting on some books made by Nymphenburg in the mid 20th century just after WWII. Originally designed by U. Geiger in the early 20th century. This is the painted version which is much nicer and harder to find than the more common blanc de chine version. Superbly modeled and hand painted! The owl is perched on an open book that has " In arte voluptas " impressed in it which means in art lies pleasure. The figurine is 6.75 inches tall, 2.875 inches wide and 2.875 inches deep. Marked with the painted blue impressed shield mark to the front of the base, the green shield mark with the name Nymphenburg under it on the underside of the base with the words western Germany under it. It also has the imrpessed numbers 408 and 15. The artist mark H.S. is painted in black on the back of the base. The figurine is in perfect condition.
