Putto as Mars Figurine

This is a hard to find polychrome version of this figurine of the god Mars made by Nymphenburg in the early 20th century. An easily identified god with the shield and drawn sword afterall he is the god of war. The putto is wearing armor including a helmet with some feathers on top while standing on a typical base. The 18th century version would also have had a cannon on the base but when they redid them in the later 19th century they omitted that. The shield has the symbol for Mars in the center which happens to be the male symbol as well. A really nicely modeled figure with lots of detail to it. Hand painted to perfection. Originally modeled by the famous Bustelli and it is an incredible piece! The figurine is 4.25 inches tall, 2.375 inches wide and 3 inches deep. The figure displays nicely but has damage to it. The knife has a small chip to the guard and the scabbard is broken off at the end plus his head was broken off cleanly and reglued. Impossible to spot unless you really look hard. He displays perfectly since the damage is not visible from the front when on display! The piece is marked underneath with the impressed numbers 255 over 0 and the shield mark as shown. There is also an impressed shield on top of the base by his left foot as shown in the pictures. Please email me for more information or other pictures.
