Hippo Figurine

This is a superb and quite hard to find figurine of a hippopotamus made by Nymphenburg in the mid 20th century right after WWII. It was designed by Emil Manz in the early 20th century. The hippo was superbly modeled and painted to perfection. A very typical pose for these charming yet dangerous creatures with her head down looking calmly for some grasses to eat. The piece is 4.5 inches tall, about 3.25 inches wide and 9.5 inches long. The figure is marked with the impressed shield mark underneath with the model number 399 over 4 as well as the green shield mark with the name Nymphenburg and Western Germany underneath it. The hippo figure is in perfect condition. An amazing piece! Please email me for more information or other pictures.

Price is $2499
