Double Monk Figurine

This is a figurine of two Chienese priests made by Nymphenburg in the early 20th century. I own each of these pieces separately but here they are combined into one figure. The figure comes from a series of 17 or 18 figurines I think - this being one of the harder to find pieces. Originally it was off course modelled by Bustelli in the 18th century. This is the blanc de chine version but this also comes in a painted version though one rarely ever sees it. I own a few other pieces from this series as well and they are probably my favorite figures besides the commedia dell'Arte off course. The figurine is of an older gentleman dressed in a flowing robe with some nice decorations in the front wearing a neat hat while standing on a typical base. His left hand is perfectly modeled in front while his other hand is holding a book under his arm. Next to him is another monk that is bowing down with one hand on his head. A superb piece that is stunning and elegant looking. Both are standing on a simple yet elegant base. This figure is amazingly modeled and one can see why Bustelli is still considered the greatest modeler of all time. The piece is 8.75 inches tall, 5.75 inches wide and 3.75 inches deep. The figure displays perfectly but upon close insepction you find a hairline going in two direction from a small chip at the back of the bowing monk and the standing monk has a crack around the robe covering his out stretched arm. It does not look like it was ever off but it's close. None of this is obvious when on display and from the front completely invisible. The figurine is marked with the impressed shield mark to the back of the base as well as underneath and has the impressed numbers 375 over 0. Please email me for more information or other pictures.
