Chinese Musician Figurine #1

This is a figurine of a musician playing the chimes (a nicer name in German is Glockenspiel ) made by Nymphenburg in the late 20th century. It comes from a series of 17 or 18 figurines I think - this being one of the harder to find pieces especially in perfect condition due to obvious reasons. Originally it was off course modelled by Bustelli in the 18th century. This is the blanc de chine version but this also comes in a painted version though one rarely ever sees it. I own a few other pieces from this series as well and they are probably my favorite figures besides the commedia dell'Arte off course. The figure has the monk looking young gentleman dressed in a flowing robe with a bow in the front holding the percussion mallet and in the other one the chimes. He is standing on a typical base. A really fun piece that is stunning and elegant looking. This piece is amazingly modeled and one can see why Bustelli is still considered the greatest modeler of all time. The figurine is 4.75 inches tall, 2.875 inches wide and 2 inches deep. It is in perfect condition! The figurine is marked with the impressed shield mark to the top side of the base and underneath as well as the impressed numbers 388 and an incised 31.
