Polychrome Anselmo Commedia Figurine

This is a really hard to find figurine from the Commedia dell'arte aka the Italian Comedy series made by Nymphenburg in the early 20th century. One of the hardest to find figures of the series especially in color. These figurines were first modelled by Franz Anton Bustelli, regarded as one of the best porcelain sculptors, in about 1760 and are still as popular as ever today! And one can see why with the superb and lifelike poses and great attention to detail! This figurine here is Anselmo whose partner is Corine who I also have on the site. What his exact role was is a bit of a mystery these days but Corine would have been reading her letter to him and he seems to be telling her to keep her voice down with his finger being lifted up to his mouth. The figurine is superbly modeled with lots of detail and looks stunning. Painted to perfection as all of Nymphenburg figures from this series are. The figure is in perfect condition which is an added bonus. I have not owned the painted version before so it was a nice find for me. The piece is 7 inches tall, 3.875 inches wide and 2.875 inches deep. The piece is marked with the impressed shield mark on the side of the base near his cane as well as another impressed shield mark underneath and impressed number 49 over 0 as shown. A great looking figurine! Please email me for more information or other pictures.

Price is $1999
