Amazing Atlas Design Tureen

This is an amazing lidded terrine / tureen made by Nymphenburg in the 20th century just after WWII. It has a stunning shape with the scroll handles and scroll work around the base all highlighted with gilding but the most amazing part is that it is hand painted with the rare Atlas design originally inspired by a woven textile pattern of the time. This is a very rare find especially being a main serving dish and highly sought after by collectors. The design is compete with their specialty - a sliced lemon finial with its stem and leaves. It really does not come better than this unless it was from the original period in the 18th century but that wasn't going to happen. The main body is marked underneath with the impressed shield mark with a number 3 below it as well as the green shield mark with Nymphenburg underneath and Western Germany under that as shown. The piece is in perfect condition which is an added bonus! The terrine and its lid are about 9.5 inches tall, 14.25 inches wide and 9.75 inches deep. The lid has a slot for the serving spoon to fit in it which I do not have. Please email me for more information or other pictures.

Price is $1999
