Naples Scenic Saucer

This is a superb saucer made by Naples , Real Fabbrica Ferdinandea , in the 18th century. It is hand painted with a really nice scene in the center of the city of Naples including the Chiesa di Sant'Antonio a Posillipo a church build in 1642. It's a really well painted scene with the church on the left, another building acorss the street, trees, people, donkeys, clouds, etc. As nice as it comes. Very similar to the servizio delle vedute del regno , detto dell'oca that has views of the Kingdom of Italy. The saucer has the scene in the center surrounded by a gold ring. The rim has swags of puce cornflowers hanging of a gold ring with gold trim to the edge as well. It's a gorgeous looking piece! A very elegant and rare saucer. The saucer is in good condition with crazing to the glaze which has stained on the underside as shown. A spot of wear in the center of the scene as shown. It is 1.375 inches tall and 5.625 inches in diameter. Marked underneath with the crown over N mark in blue as well as Chiesa di S. Antonio a Posillipo in red as shown and a monogram in red that might be the artist or for the owner. A gold crescent along the foot ring might be a gilder's mark. Not sure but it's definitely a special piece! Please email me for more information or other pictures.
