Naples Relief Design Cup & Saucer

This is an interesting but damaged cup & saucer made in the late 18th century by the Naples factory where the Capodimonte factory moved later in its history. The saucer is decorated with a relief design of floral garlands held up by angels / cherubs while the cup has a superb mythological relief scene all around. The relief designs are hand painted very nicely. The saucer also has four scattered small flowers in the center and both pieces ahve a nice gold trim to the rim. The saucer is in good condition with a touch of wear and a shallow chip to the outer edge as shown. The cup has lost its handle and if it didn't have this rare mark I would have discarded it. It makes for a nice learning tool and is an extremely rare example from this maker with this early mark. The saucer is unmarked and is 0.875 inches tall and 5.375 inches in diameter. The cup is 3 inches tall with a top diameter of 2.75 inches. If you ground down the handle terminals it would make for a ncie beaker shaped cup you could still use!
